Google is constantly tweaking usability features on Gmail, but a new update focuses on fun — emoji style

Now, when you compose a Gmail message you'll have an even larger array of whimsical and descriptive emoji to accent your text-based missive

Gmail has offered an emoji option for several years, but the expanded number of emoji characters puts the software, which is often used on desktops, more on par with the kind of mobile communications most texters are familiar with.

In addition to the emoji upgrade, Google has also added hundreds of new high-resolution themes to its existing bank of themes that place stuning photography and graphics unobtrusively behind your Gmail interface. Well, that got... weird.

Facebook held one of its regular Q&A Townhall sessions with Mark Zuckerberg Tuesday. Rather than a live event with Zuckerberg answering questions from a live audience, the question and answer session was in AMA format on the CEO's timeline.

But Tuesday's Townhall took a turn for the weird when a handful of Facebook's more high profile users, including Stephen Hawking, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Arianna Huffington, chimed in with their own questions for the Facebook boss.

In what must have been a well-orchestrated PR move from the social network, Hawking, Schwarzenegger and Huffington kicked things off by asking Zuckerberg about his take on science, workouts and journalism, respectively Read more...

LOS ANGELES — Now we're ready to believe in Creed.

When it was announced in 2013 that MGM and Warner Bros. were training up a Rocky spin-off with Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan in the title role, we have to admit we were scratching our heads. Was another trip into the Rocky ring, which seemed out of gas after a wildly uneven six films, really the best move for one of Hollywood's brightest up-and-coming director/actor duos?

Where Are The Invisible Apps?

invisiblerunner More than a year ago, Matthew Panzarino wrote an article on TechCrunch in which he described a new type of mobile app experience that he coined the Invisible App. He predicted that we would imminently see the rise of a huge number of apps that would live in the background, anticipating our needs based on sensor and contextual data, and do things for us before we even had to ask. What an… Read More
